"In the novels, Mycroft has always been shown as being quite chubby because on his case he does not really do a lot of ‘legwork’. Gatiss decided to make the twist that Mycroft is trying to go on a diet but is struggling. And as cake is impossible to resist, i guess the fandom put the two together."
